Introduction to Class Placemat

The Class Placemat summarises key class data for the teacher’s review, and is a great planning tool for teachers to review and make notes about their teaching strategies for the upcoming term/semester.

Search: Select the Year Level, Subject and Class, then click Find.

Class Results and Differentiation

The number under each result group represents the number of students for which the result group was achieved in  the previous result period.

Blue cells: Teachers can enter the number of students they are targeting to achieve each result group.

Note: Result Groups are customised in Admin > Analytics Setup > Result Groups

Class overview

The overview shows some key data about the class, including number of students in class and average results from the previous result period.

Class Distribution

Students are listed within each group  based on the result they achieved in the previous result period in this subject (into A’s, B’s, etc.).

Where the subject does not have a direct subject link, and where  a 'soft-link' has been connected, it will show the soft-linked subject code in bold.

TIP: Click on the student's name to open the Student's Profile screen

Class Detail / Student Detail

Teachers can reflect on the results of each of these student groups and can comment on 'restricting factors' and 'improvement strategies' either at a class level, student level, or both.
They may either type directly into the blank fields provided or print the Placemat and hand-write in these boxes.

Tip: The terms 'Restricting Factors / Improvement Strategies' can be changed to better suit your school terminology.

Note: Notes that have been placed into the 'Student Detail' tab can be viewed within the Student Pathways screen.
They can also be exported vis Reports > Pathways > Student Differentiation (Placemat) Notes.

Notes

Teachers may enter Academic, Pastoral or any other notes pertaining to their class. This may be useful in handover situations. They may either type directly into the blank fields provided or print the Placemat and hand-write their notes.

Focus Students

The Placemat highlights students who are ‘at risk’ in any of the following category cut-offs (as set up in Admin > General Setup > Focus Students)

  • Academic result
  • Engagement result
  • Absences

Note: a student need not be ‘at risk’ in each of the above areas. Meeting any one of the cut-offs will cause a student to appear in this table.

The results in the table may be sorted by clicking on the column heading. Clicking the heading once will order the data from highest to lowest. Clicking the heading again will order to data from lowest to highest.

External Heatmap

External assessment results are displayed as a heat map.

The colour-coding will depend on the cut-offs that have been set up (Admin > External Assessment > Assessment Cutoffs)

The assessment criteria which displays here is customisable (Admin > External Assessment > Assessment Filtering)

The results in the table may be sorted by clicking on the column heading. Clicking the heading once will order the data from highest to lowest. Clicking the heading again will order to data from lowest to highest.
